Council’s biosecurity team and Queensland Parks & Wildlife Service Mossman will be conducting aerial Hiptage surveys in October.
This will involve low-level operations in a helicopter around Mossman and surrounds on October 4 & 5.
Times are between 7.00am and 3.00pm on both days, weather permitting.
Areas include:
- Mossman Gorge National Park
- Mossman
- South Mossman rivers and creek catchments
- Finlayvale/ Santacatterina area
Hiptage is an invasive weed species and is marked for eradication within the Douglas Shire. Aerial surveys are conducted to detect flowering plants in the rainforest canopy.
