Douglas Shire Council has released an Expression of Interest for business representatives in Douglas Shire to sit on the Economic Strategic Review Committee.

The committee will help Council review the current Economic Development Strategy and help the community discover new and innovative initiatives to support our community.

Members will hold six sessions over two months with the aim of deploying a cross-shire approach to economic planning and improving sustainable economic outcomes in the region.

Members are required to commit to the following dates from 7am to 9.30am.

  • 19 February 2020
  • 26 February 2020


The proposed committee will feature 12 members including Mayor Julia Leu, Douglas Chamber of Commerce President Liz Ross, Tourism Port Douglas Daintree Chief Executive Officer Tara Bennett and two Council Officers.

The remaining seven positions will be filled through the EOI process, which closed on November 29.

Council Chief Executive Officer Mark Stoermer will facilitate the committee meetings.

Business Survey

To support the Committee in gathering data, Council will also be conducting a survey of business in the Shire.
