The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will carry out geotechnical remedial works on Captain Cook Highway near Rex Lookout starting on October 7, 2019.

The works will be carried out between 9am and 3pm until October 12, 2019, weather permitting.

These works will improve safety by preventing loose rock material from falling onto the road surface at this location.

For the safety of workers and road users, changed traffic conditions will be in place while the works are carried out.

The highway will be reduced to single lane operation under the coordination of traffic controllers and traffic signals during working hours.

Minor speed reductions may be required outside these hours.

Road users should expect delays of up to ten minutes each day throughout the works to carry out scaling, cleaning and removal or large rocks.

Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be in place in the sections where works are being undertaken one week prior to work starting.

More information about road conditions across Queensland’s state-controlled road network is available via TMR’s 13 19 40 Traffic and Travel Information services.
