SWIM in the Christmas spirit at the Mossman Pool and help the team fill the pool with toys for families that may need a little extra support this festive season with the inaugural Toy Dive.

Kicking off Monday 22 November, the Toy Dive, a splashed-up twist on a traditional toy drive is in conjunction with the Douglas Shire Mayor’s Christmas appeal.

Donations of new unopened children’s presents and toys for kids of all ages can be dropped off at the Mossman Pool Monday thru Friday 6:00 am – 7:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

In return for your generous donation to the Toy Dive the team at the Mossman pool is gifting you a free swim when giving a toy, so remember to bring your swimmers and towel.

Jeremy Lebeuf, Team Leader at the Mossman Pool, is looking forward to starting the toy drive on Monday November 22. “It’s really important to our team to come up with a way to give back to our community especially in time for the holidays when giving is so important.”

“We see a lot of children come through our doors and it’s saddening for us to know that some of them might go without a gift under the tree this Christmas. The Toy Dive is a way that we can brighten up Christmas morning for those that are doing it tough this year.”

“It’s a big Olympic-sized pool to fill, however, the hearts of the people in the Douglas Shire are even bigger, we’re confident with their support we can make a pretty good dent in it,” said Jeremy.

It’s no easy feat to fill up a 50-meter eight-lane swimming pool with toys, lucky the team have a more manageable inflatable pool they hope to fill, keeping everyone updated on the progress.

Getting involved in the Toy Dive is all about giving back and helping one another, together we can make a difference to those in the community who are doing it tough coming into the festive season, allowing all children to have a wonderful and memorable Christmas.

Bring your unwrapped toy to the Mossman Community Pool located at 1 Park Street Mossman, and enjoy your free swim as our thanks.  For more information, please call 0417 768 266.
