Douglas Shire Council has reviewed the current requirement for the road barricade between Langley Road and Little Reef Street following requests from local residents due to safety concerns.
Council is seeking feedback from residents on the proposal to remove the road barricade between Langley Road and Little Reef Street to allow access for emergency services vehicles and improve traffic movement.
The barricade was originally installed following requests for local residents to restrict bus access due to noise impacts.
Bus services no longer operate in this area as the resort which it serviced has closed down.
Council has determined Little Reef Street and Coral Drive are not suitable for a bus route and any future development is required to demonstrate an acceptable solution to be serviced within the constraints of existing Council infrastructure or provide upgrades to infrastructure as determined through the development application assessment process.
Council is seeking the feedback of local residents and ratepayers to inform the decision on whether to remove the road barricade or maintain it.
The input of local residents will largely determine the outcome of the review.
