Mayor Julia Leu said anyone interested has until COB on Monday 27 February to provide feedback on the draft arts strategy and policy.
“The Strategy will provide medium-term organisational direction for local arts with practical, achievable actions while the framework will enable Council to plan future actions and projects for a period of five years,” Mayor Leu said.
“The strategy has been developed after taking into account issues and priorities identified through targeted community engagement during September and October.
The Strategy will be used when developing Council’s Annual Budgets and Operational Plans and assessing applications to Council’s various grants programs and Public Art submissions.
Public comments received during the two-week period will be taking into account for the finalised Strategy, to be presented to Council for adoption.
The Draft Arts Strategy and Policy may be viewed at Council’s Port Douglas Hub, Mossman Administration Office, Douglas Libraries and on Council’s Have Your Say.
Comments on the Arts Strategy and Policy can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or posted to Douglas Shire Council PO Box 723, Mossman, QLD 4873 before 4.30pm Monday 27 February 2017.
