Douglas Shire Council has adopted the Annual Report for its first six months of operations.
The annual report, covering the period from January 1 to June 30, highlights the achievements of the new Council’s first six months as well as detailing financial statements and legislative requirements.
Mayor Julia Leu said the adoption of the new Council’s inaugural annual report was an historic moment.
“In our first six months we adopted two budgets, the Corporate Plan, delivered on our core services and capital works program while establishing a raft of new programs and policies, including a new approach to community engagement and communication,” Mayor Leu said.
“Our vision is to lead the way on financial, environmental and social sustainability, to build a sustainable economic base in an extraordinarily beautiful and environmentally rich part of the planet.
“The annual report clearly shows we are well on the way to achieving this and we look forward to continuing to work closely with all sectors of the community in order to achieve a strong, vibrant economy while providing an enjoyable lifestyle.”
