Mossman Library is celebrating National Heritage Week with a “Stroll Back In Time” around Mossman on Tuesday 18 April from 9.30am. Join Douglas Libraries Team Leader Judy Coulthard on a historical walk of Mossman and learn all about the town’s rich heritage. Meet at Mossman Library for this free event and bring comfortable shoes and water plus sun or rain protection. You can also join the Mossman Library team for coffee, cake and conversation Wednesday 19 April from 10am at Mossman Library. Join in the conversation as local residents get together and chat about where they are from and their life in the Douglas Shire. Morning tea will be provided and bookings are appreciated. Enjoy a variety of craft activities inspired by the Gathering by the Sea On Tour exhibition on Wednesday 5 April from 2-3pm. Activities include discover your totem and make a wristband; sea-creature collage and draw a sea-inspired picture. On Wednesday 12 April from 10.30-11.30am kids can use templates to create your own designs and paint a coloured sand picture. Both activities are suitable for school age children. Bookings essential. Free Tech-Savvy Seniors Workshops
Douglas is the lucky recipient of State Library of Queensland and Telstra funding to deliver free technology training for seniors. Digital literacy skills are essential for anyone who wants to actively engage with family and friends across the country and the world. Learn skills in email, social media, internet banking, smartphones and tablets, online shopping and cybersafety. Classes are held regularly at Mossman Library. Free Lego & K’Nex
The free activities for young builders aged between seven and 15 years will occur every Thursday between 3.30-4.30pm during school terms. The sessions are an opportunity for children to create, construct, problem-solve and have fun. For more information call the library on 4099 9496.
Babies and their Mums and Dads, gather every Thursday at 10.30am at the Mossman Library to share a fun and interactive time, rhyming and singing together at Baby Rhyme Time. The Baby Rhyme Time program uses nursery rhymes and finger plays to help develop your baby’s language skills. Come along and have fun singing, clapping and dancing with other parents and babies. For parents and babies 0 to 2 years.
The library offers Story Time every Thursday at 10.30am for children and their families at the Mossman Library. Story Time is followed by a craft activity and free play time. Adults and children come together in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. It’s a great place for new parents and newcomers to the district to meet other families. Mums and Dads, Grandparents and Carers join in the fun as well and share the adventures that books can bring. Story Time is an ideal beginning to building literacy skills for our children.
