Recent flooding in the Daintree River caused sand to build up in the ferry channel.
This has the ability to cause minor disruption ferry operations at low tides.
To minimise delays, dredging works to the Daintree Ferry channel will start at 9pm tonight (January 7, 2019).
Dredging is expected to take a number of days, however exact time is unknown at this stage.
Minor delays may be experienced for those travelling across the Daintree River during this time (9pm to midnight).
The ferry started at 5.30am on Sunday and 5.45am today due to these low tides.
At this stage there is no anticipated disruption of ferry services during daylight hours.
Council would like to thank the public for understanding.
