The Daintree River Ferry will not operate from 10pm Friday 18 November 2022 until 5am Tuesday 22 November 2022 to allow for important safety maintenance work to be completed.
Douglas Shire Council has organised for contractors to replace the vessel’s northern loading ramp. At this stage, the ferry is expected to resume normal operations at 5am Tuesday 22 November, weather permitting.
Depending on weather, Council and contractors will strive to have works completed earlier than expected.
There will be no vehicle ferry service during this period.
There will be changed traffic conditions on Wednesday 16 November to Friday 18 November at the northern side of the river while contractors set up the work site.
While vehicle ferry services will resume by Tuesday 22 November, changed traffic conditions will remain until the work site is cleared on the northern side of the river.
Further details about these changed traffic conditions will be provided closer to the date.
A passenger vessel will take people across the river during the temporary closure period during daylight hours only.
Council appreciates the inconvenience these required works may cause residents and thanks the community in advance for their patience whilst works are completed to ensure the long-term operational success of the crossing.
March 2023 Closure for Dry Docking
Council would also like feedback from the community about possible dates for the mandatory five-day out of water inspection to be scheduled for March 2023.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call Gaye Scott on 4099 9414 to advise of any dates in March to avoid, if possible.
Priority Lane Open from Saturday
