The Water and Wastewater Department within the Douglas Shire Council is responsible for providing safe drinking water and efficient environmentally friendly wastewater services to the Douglas Shire Community.

Key Performance Indicators
Douglas Shire Council reports on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) annually through Statewide Water Information Management (SWIM) reporting under the requirements of Department Of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy (DNRME) to produce Queensland’s Urban Potable Water & Sewerage Benchmarking Report. Declared Water and Sewer Service Areas
Legislated in the Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008 it is mandatory to declare the service areas for reticulated water and/or sewerage. These declared areas provide clarity about who can and cannot be connected to Council’s water and sewage infrastructure.
