Port Douglas Yacht Club
The Clipper Cup regatta formed the original basis for the Port Douglas Carnivale. It, like the Carnivale, is now in its 21st year.
This year it will be raced over six days from Sunday 24th to Friday 29th with a lay day on Wednesday featuring land based activities, with entertainment every night. There will be a presentation dinner on Friday the 29th.
Adrenalin will be on the water during the race on jet skis to capture footage of all the action
Racing can be viewed from 4 Mile Beach, with the stairs (around the rocks at the end of Macrossan Street off Jalun Park) being an ideal grandstand. On Family Beach Day, racing will sail along offshore from Four Mile Beach, which should give beach goers a spectacular view of the yachts with spinnakers.
This year there are four divisions:
Div 1 for larger racing yachts
Div 2 Cruising Yachts,
Div 3 Multihulls and
Div 4 Sports and J24s.
Entries always include out of town enthusiasts so competition is fierce! A fleet of over 20 boats is expected.
Presentations will be held each afternoon at the Port Douglas Yacht Club.
