Council is offering a free mulch giveaway to residents from Friday 19 until Monday 22 May.
The free mulch offer is available to all Douglas Shire residents during this period at the Killaloe Transfer Station and the Newell Beach Transfer Station.
Mayor Julia Leu urged residents to do their gardens a favour and take advantage of the free mulch offer.
“Council’s free mulch offer is a way for us to give back to our community,” Mayor Leu said.
“It may only be a small gesture in the grand scheme of things but for the green thumbs in our community it’s a very worthwhile and welcome initiative.”
The offer of free green waste for residents is for domestic cars, utes, and/or trailers and small light trucks (vehicle weight up to GVM 4 tonnes) only. Free mechanical loading is available at both sites.
This material is not produced to Australian Standard and it may contain weed species and other non-organic remnants. Council does not assume any liability resulting from the use of this mulch.
Opening hours for the Killaloe Transfer Station are 8am–6pm Monday to Saturday and 9am–6pm on Sundays. Newell Beach Transfer Station opening hours are 8am-noon on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays and 1pm–4pm on Wednesdays.
