DOUGLAS Shire has just welcomed another diverse group of new Aussies at a Citizenship Ceremony in Mossman.
36 new Aussies were welcomed from a range of countries including United States of America, Taiwan, Italy, France, India, Belgium, United Kingdom, Argentina, Canada, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nepal, Germany, New Zealand, Vietnam, Finland, Kirbati, Wales and Israel.
Local Eastern Kuku Yalanji representative Raymond Lafragua provided the Welcome to Country address in native Yalanji language, before Douglas Shire Mayor Michael Kerr welcomed our new citizens. Deputy Mayor Lisa Scomazzon presented each new Aussie with their certificate along with a native plant from the Mossman Nursery.
