The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is currently undertaking resealing works at the following times and locations:
Port Douglas Road: 18 – 19 October – section near Rainforest Habitat to Agincourt Street roundabout, and Atoll Close to Golden Palms Avenue roundabout
Captain Cook Highway: 1 – 12 November – short sections through and north of Ellis Beach, and north of Craiglie up to Mossman.
Crews will be onsite from Monday to Saturday between 6 am and 6 pm from Monday 18 October 2021 to Friday 12 November 2021, weather permitting. Works crews will progress from site to site as works are completed in each location.
Timeframes may be subject to change depending on the program of works and weather conditions.
The works will involve resealing the road surface to extend the life of the road pavement and reduce the formation of potholes. The works will improve safety and travelling conditions for road users.
For the safety of road users and maintenance crews, changed traffic conditions will be in place including temporary speed limit reductions, and single lane operation under coordination of traffic controllers while the works are carried out. Road users should expect minor delays and plan their journeys accordingly.
Nearby residents and businesses may experience noise associated with the works, such as the sound of trucks, light machinery and vibrations while the work is carried out. The Contractor will take all reasonable and practicable actions to minimise impacts.
Variable Message Signs (VMS) are in place on the approaches to the work site to ensure motorists are aware of the changed traffic conditions. Changes in dates due to poor weather will be posted on the VMS.
