This is just to advise that the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be conducting a planned burn at Snapper Island National Park from August 11 2014.
Planned burns such as this are vitally important. QPWS conducts burns for protection of the community (life and property) by decreasing potential wildfire risks later in the year, and for the management of natural ecosystems.
The planned burn is scheduled to coincide with favourable weather conditions, with smoke expected to be blown away from populated areas. Snapper Island National Park will be closed during this time. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you or your operation.
