Suburb: Port Douglas

Work date: TBAWorks delayed due to discovery of nesting birds.

Description: One Leopard Tree located on the footpath at the corner of Macrossan and Grant Streets will be removed.

The tree is suffering from fungal decay of its heartwood.  Arborists have researched remedies and determined the decay is too far gone to be successfully managed by fungicidal treatment. This is clearly evident in the photos below.

If left as is, the tree will continue to decay, and eventually fall.

Council will not replant a new tree because of the proximity to underground services. There are several other streetscape trees close by, including a large mango tree which will fill the void.
