Douglas Shire Council’s construction team is preparing to do some road repairs on the Alexandra Range commencing Tuesday 4 October 2022.

There are eight different repair areas on the northern side of the range requiring the road edge to be shored up with large blue stone.

These works have been supported by the Wet Tropics Management Authority and will be done under Council’s maintenance permit WTMA19008.

The work is expected to take up to three weeks. While work is underway – 7am to 4pm Monday to Friday, one lane of Cape Tribulation Road will be closed.

Delays will be five minutes or less, and traffic controllers will be on site to respond to the changing flow of vehicles in either direction.

Grading at the Bloomfield Track

Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire will commence grading on the northern section of the Bloomfield Track Monday 26 September.  The grader will be working Monday to Thursday – 10 hours per day for three weeks as follows.

  • 26 to 29 September
  • 3 to 6 October
  • 10 to 13 October
  • 17 to 19 October (three days)

Delays of between 15 and 20 minutes are expected.  Traffic controllers will be on site to respond to the changing flow of vehicles in either direction.
