Tropical Cyclone Jasper reconstruction works
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will start reconstruction works on Mossman-Mount Molloy Road.
Priority works will occur at the site currently under single lane traffic control approximately 1.5 kilometres from the Mossman – Mount Molloy Road Lookout (towards Mossman).
Road users are advised there will gradually be more crew movements in the area.
Works are expected to begin from 30 May 2025 pending weather and site conditions.
Currently there are no road closures or night closures scheduled for the works on Mossman – Mount Molloy Road.
TMR will provide advance notice on any road closures once dates are confirmed pending weather, site conditions and progress of works.
Works on Mossman-Mount Molloy Road will include:
- soil nailing and concreting to stabilise slopes
- installation of gabion basket retaining walls
- revegetation works.
The section under single lane traffic control will be the first priority with other sites to be completed later in the reconstruction program.
Traffic control measures and closures:
There are currently no scheduled road closures for Mossman – Moubt Molloy Road.
TMR anticipates closures will be required to complete the complex reconstruction works and will provide advance notice to stakeholders.
Intermittent traffic control will be in place along some sections of the highway as TMR progresses pre-construction surveys and works ahead of mobilising to sites.
