Public Notice: Tree Maintenance Works – Four Mile
Tree maintenance works will be carried out in Port Douglas, near Four Mile Beach on Tuesday 25 November 2025 (weather permitting.
Location
- Four Mile Park (off Barrier Street) – fig trees along the internal park entry road.
- Rear of Helmet Street properties – fig trees behind homes backing onto Four Mile Park.
What’s Happening
Pruning several Ficus (fig) trees to improve safety and clearance while maintaining tree health:
- Four Mile Park – park entry road (Barrier Street side)
- Lift canopies to provide safe clearance over the internal access road.
- Remove dead or defective branches.
- Retain the natural shape and balance of the trees.
- Rear of Helmet Street properties (park side)
- Prune branches away from nearby roofs and walls to help prevent damage from Council trees.
- Reduce limb length over buildings and separate figs from adjacent palm.
- Remove dead or defective wood as required.
Traffic and Access
- External traffic control will be in place on Barrier Street/park entry as required.
- Short delays may occur; motorists and pedestrians are asked to follow signage and the directions of traffic controllers.
- Access to the park will be maintained, with localised exclusion zones around active work areas.
