Council, on behalf of the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR), will be undertaking vegetation clearing at the Lower Daintree Boat Ramp in preparation for a future second boat ramp to be built upstream of the existing floating walkway.
DTMR has recently completed a cultural heritage assessment of the site and requires the vegetation to be cleared before survey work can begin. Further details about the new boat ramp will be released by DTMR at a later stage.
Planned Works:

Date: 10 September 2025 (works to be completed in one day)

Ramp Closure: The ramp will be closed between 0700-1600

Activities: Vegetation clearing by an arborist team, using excavator, chainsaws, and chipper (noise expected).

Upstream side: 7 metres from the outer edge of the floating walkway support lane, full length of ramp.

Downstream side: 2 metres from the edge of the shoulder, full length of ramp, to clear the ramp shoulder.
