The Rex Smeal Park playground in Port Douglas will be temporarily closed on Wednesday, 30 July, to allow for urgent tree maintenance.
The large fig tree adjacent to the playground requires pruning to remove decaying branches from its canopy. This essential work has been scheduled following the school holiday period to minimise disruption to families and park users.
A temporary barrier will be installed around the playground and nearby tree, with spotters onsite to assist contractors and ensure public safety by keeping people at a safe distance.
