Overview
Summary
Old Forestry Road Proposed Closures – Monday 3 November to 11 December 2025.
Work on the repair of two landslips on Old Forestry Road will start next Monday 3 November. Space is limited and the plant & equipment will take up the entire road requiring the road to be closed. The locations of the two of the landslips are marked on the map below. All residents will still have access and egress to Whyanbeel Road, but the route will depend on where you live on Old Forestry Road.
Site #2
- Contractors are scheduled mobilise at Old Forestry Road Site 2 on Monday 3 November and anticipate completion by Monday 8 December. (Five weeks)
- A full road closure is needed at this location.
- The road closure will be in place 24/7. This eliminates the need to move equipment daily which would extend the construction time considerably.
- Should the causeway flood and block access, the contractor will temporarily relocate machinery to create a 2.2m trafficable path for cars to pass.
- This would accommodate smaller vehicles but would exclude 4WDs or larger vehicles.
- Contractors will monitor weather forecasts daily and if a rain event is looming, machinery would be moved prior to the event.
Site #1
- Contractors are scheduled mobilise at Old Forestry Road Site 1 on Wednesday 13 November and anticipate completion by Wednesday 11 December. (Four weeks)
- A partial road closure is needed at this location, but contractors are proposing to allow access and egress to those residents living north of Site 2. This would be for local residents only.
- Again, the road closure will be in place 24/7 with access available for local residents 24/7.
- Access will be wide enough for cars and 4WD vehicles only – no trucks.
Work on both sites will occur between 6.30am – 5.30pm Monday to Saturday.
Cost of Project
The cost for repairs is covered by the Australian Government’s Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
The DRFA is joint Commonwealth and State government funding, providing financial assistance in this instance, to help communities recover from TC Jasper which occurred in December 2023.
