Lower Daintree Boat Ramp & Floating walkway replacement

Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) is replacing the floating walkway at the public boat ramp on Cape Tribulation Road, Lower Daintree.

The existing walkway was significantly damaged by flooding following ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper. The replacement will provide a safer, wider and more flood-resilient facility.

Impacts to boat ramp users

Construction has commenced and is expected to continue until December 2026, weather and site conditions permitting.

During this time:

  • partial closures of the boat ramp will be required
  • access around the ramp may change as works progress
  • boat ramp users should take extra care around landside and in-water work areas
  • all temporary signage and contractor instructions must be followed.

Please allow additional time when using the facility.

The upgraded walkway will be widened to 3.5 metres and provide dual-sided berthing access.
