Overview
Summary
During Tropical Cyclone Jasper, multiple landslips and geotechnical failures occurred along the entire 26-kilometre length of Cape Tribulation Bloomfield Road, closing the road between Wujal Wujal and Cape Tribulation for several months.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (Roadtek) completed initial repair work to re-open the road 22 June 2024. After scoping out repairs and submitting to QRA for consideration and subsequent approval, tenders were released to the market in February 2025.
The work was divided into four separate contracts:
- Landslips – awarded to HEH
- Unsealed Road Section – awarded to Durack Civil
- Sealed Road Section – yet to be released to market
- Concrete Section – awarded to NCP Contracting
Cost of Project
Repairs are being funded by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority under the Reconstruction of Essential Public Assets Program.
