It’s a must-do for everyone from honeymooners to grey nomads but this Sunday the iconic Port Douglas Markets will have something extra special for its youngest visitors.
The Christmas Markets will be held at Market Park on Sunday, December 14, from 8am, offering a festive atmosphere and plenty of opportunities for last-minute gift shopping.
This year, the markets will add some extra activities for kids, with fun activities and entertainment designed to keep them smiling while parents browse for unique, handcrafted gifts.
Douglas Shire Council Mayor Lisa Scomazzon said the Christmas Markets would be a celebration for the whole family.
“We’re adding a festive twist to make the markets even more exciting for children,” Mayor Scomazzon said.
“There’ll be an emcee running games and activities to keep kids entertained because when the kids are happy, everyone enjoys the experience more.”
The activities include free facepainting, balloon animals, games, and prizes.
Mayor Scomazzon encouraged locals and visitors to support the stallholders who make the markets such a vibrant destination.
“Our stallholders turn up week after week, creating one of the most iconic attractions in the region,” she said.
“The festive season can be a quieter time for them, so this is a great chance to pick up something unique and support local makers. You might just find that perfect Christmas gift!”
