Summary
The southern end of Newell Beach and the northern end of Oak Beach coastline were significantly impacted during the Tropical Cyclone Jasper disaster event. In 2025, funding was secured to implement nature-based solutions aimed at rehabilitating and restoring these coastal areas.
Scope of Works
Southern Newell Beach:
- Sand scraping and nourishment
- Revegetation
Northern Oak Beach:
- Sand scraping
- Revegetation
Cost of Project
The package is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments to support Queensland communities in their recovery from the Tropical Cyclone Jasper, Associated Rainfall and Flooding, 13 – 28 December 2023 event.
