A fun and energetic warm‑up that beats any caffeine hit, a bigger and better free breakfast and a First Nations dance troupe will set the scene for Yalanji RAW 2026, returning on Saturday 30 May at Mossman Gorge.
The Yalanji RAW Reconciliation Run & Walk is held during National Reconciliation Week and invites people of all ages and abilities to run or walk together in the spirit of unity and respect. This year’s event embraces the theme “ALL IN – Moving Forward Together”, encouraging the community to take steps toward understanding, connection and reconciliation.
The high‑energy start has become a much‑loved part of the morning, with participants gathering early for music, movement and ceremony before the run begins.
Douglas Shire Deputy Mayor Roy Zammataro said the pre‑run atmosphere added something special to an event already grounded in reconciliation and community wellbeing.
“A dance instructor getting everyone moving will create such a positive buzz and beat any caffeine hit you’d need first thing in the morning,” Cr Zammataro said.
“The warm‑up is just as much fun as the run itself, so come along from 7am and make a morning of it.”
