Theme: Water Connects Everything

National Water Week will be celebrated from 19 to 25 October 2026, and we’re inviting local students to get creative by entering the National Water Week Poster Competition.

This year’s theme, Water Connects Everything, encourages students to explore the important role water plays in everyday life. Water is not just found in rivers and rain. It is connected to the food we eat, the sports we play, the clothes we wear, the energy we use, and the places where we live, learn and play.

Students are encouraged to discover their local water story, including connections to Country and culture, and share practical ideas and actions that help protect and value water at home, school and in their community.

How Does the Competition Work?

Students are invited to create an original A3-sized poster based on the theme Water Connects Everything.

All entries will be displayed at Council’s Administration Building. Winning entries from each category will be selected locally and school-aged category winners will be submitted to the Australian Water Association (AWA) for national judging.

Kindergarten/Prep/Foundation students are encouraged to enter and are eligible for local prizes; however, these entries will not progress to the national competition.

A range of prizes will also be awarded to local winners.
