Douglas Shire Council is seeking a Team Leader Procurement with a high level of procurement experience to join the Financial Services Unit.

The objectives of the position are to:

  • Lead Council’s procurement and contract management activities, ensuring compliance, fostering strong supplier relationships, and driving continuous improvement to deliver efficient and effective procurement outcomes.
  • Develop and review procurement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Local Government Legislation and Statutory requirements.
  • Establish and rationalise key supplier agreements, identify new opportunities and seek ways to improve efficiencies.
  • Continuously improve the organisation’s procurement processes.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor of Business or related discipline, and considerable knowledge and expertise in procurement related activities.
  • Current Driver’s Licence.
  • High level procurement experience in a small to medium multi-function organisation or Local Government environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Local Government Act 2009 and any other legislation as it relates to procurement.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in the preparation of contracts, tenders and evaluation processes.
  • Proven ability to undertake tasks and duties in a logical and objective manner.
  • Well-developed reporting and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of quality service to internal and external customers.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and build relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Team Leader experience.
  • Experience in presenting to suppliers, working groups and staff.
  • Sound time management skills.
  • Well-developed conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • High level of problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in and commitment to working in a team environment.
