Council would like to remind people that stopping on the Captain Cook Highway at the Mowbray Bridge, south of Port Douglas, is STRICTLY prohibited.
Please take care when travelling in this area as Council has received reports of tourists disobeying the signage and walking onto the bridge to look at the river below.
While we have some magnificent resident crocodiles in the river, please help us remind visitors that stopping on the bridge poses a serious safety hazard to themselves and passing motorists this Easter long weekend.
Council is working with the State Government to build a crocodile viewing platform at the site as part of the Mowbray North section of the Wangetti Trail, which is due to start construction later this year.
