Cane Growers Lunch & Guest Speaker
Port Douglas Community Hall – Wednesday 29 March 2024
11am – 12:30pm – followed by lunch and discussion.
David Younger is a clinical psychologist who specialises in assisting individuals and communities recover from disasters – natural or otherwise.
Council arranged for David to speak at several community meetings in April about recovering from the impacts of TC Jasper and the subsequent flooding.
He is returning next week for follow up meetings and we have scheduled a session specifically tailored for cane growers. David will talk about navigating change and uncertainty.
We hear that farmers have a reputation for being resilient and just getting on with it, but even the most resilient of us can underestimate the impacts of stress.
David will share his experiences in working with, and seeing communities recover. And he will talk about how we can look after ourselves and what we can do to keep ourselves and our families healthy.
Please RSVP for catering purposes by emailing gaye.scott@douglas.qld.gov.au. Or text or call Gaye on 0418 793 009. Happy for people to call if they have any questions.
