Earlier this year, David Younger, a disaster & community recovery advisor, visited Douglas Shire to speak to several communities about recovery following Tropical Cyclone Jasper and the subsequent flooding.
We are pleased to announce David will be returning next month and a community dinner is planned at Daintree Village.
- Date: Monday 4 November 2024
- Time: 5:30pm for 5:45pm – Dinner 6:45pm
- Location: Café Expresso
David’s conversation is about wellbeing. He will talk about common challenges people may face almost one year since the event. Also, how to prepare emotionally for the approaching wet season. He’ll touch on how to continue to take care of yourself and others. Recovery can be a long-term experience and very different for everyone.
David’s approach is one of supportive listening and the sharing of experiences and information. He has supported many communities throughout Australia and says that he has seen many communities find a way through incredibly tough times.
This event is open to everyone in the community so please invite your family and friends. There will be time during the evening to ask questions and to talk to David. It will also be a good chance to catch up with people you know and to meet people you may not know as well.
This free event is organised by the Douglas Shire Council.
Please RSVP for catering purposes by Friday 1 November
