Council approves new level on popular restaurant

ANOTHER level that features a restaurant and deck could be coming to the Port Douglas and District Combined Club.

Douglas Shire Council approved the construction of a new upper floor at the existing club at today’s Ordinary Council Meeting in Mossman.

Council is currently looking at longer term solutions for more car parking to assist with all businesses and visitors to Port Douglas.

 

Sports bar applies to boost trading hours

A PORT Douglas sports bar has applied to extend its trading hours on Friday and Saturday nights.

Douglas Shire Council resolved to not object N17 Burger Co’s application the Office of Liquor & Gaming Regulation for increased trading times.

The applicant proposes to extend trading hours for the sale of liquor from 10:00am to 1:00am Friday to Saturday for the main premises.

The extended trading hours are considered to be consistent with the town planning intent.

 

 

 

 

Douglas takes on Bloomfield Bridge

OWNERSHIP of the Bloomfield Bridge has been accepted by Douglas Shire Council.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads advised that ownership and ongoing operation responsibility for the bridge has now passed to Council.

Council exhausted its options, including resolving to reject ownership in December 2015, however received advice that the State Minister has the power to revoke Council’s resolution.

Council staff have the expertise and skills to undertake minor routine maintenance and accepts ownership.
