Through his role at Thrive In Work, Mark is focused on changing the lives of employees through better workplace mental health.

“Being mentally healthy means more than ‘toughing it out,’ ” says Mark. “

Would you know how to help someone with declining mental health? Do you know how to look after your own? Don’t think it will affect you or your team? Think again, 1 in 5 Australians have a diagnosable illness and we each have a 43% chance of experiencing poor mental health throughout our lifetime.”

“We have all started hearing more about this issue and it’s time you took it seriously, attending evidence-based workshops that unpack this stigmatised and complex issue is a proven way to increase your understanding. These are not therapy sessions or support groups, but informative and applicable workshops designed to increase your knowledge and provide real skills for real life.”

“As an employer you provide meaningful work, suitable remuneration and a safe work environment to your team. But did you know that ‘safe’ includes psychosocial safety? Did you know that one of the most significant reasons behind staff turn-over, absences, workplace hostility and lower productivity is poor psychosocial safety? Could you recognise poor mental health in your team and know what to do to help? Do you understand how to create a healthy work environment for yourself and your workers? Unpacking this can be a challenge but certainly worth your time investment.”

Mark’s current role as Project Manager at Thrive In Work includes conducting psychologically focused WHS audits in a diverse range of businesses within the Cairns community and implementing mental health and wellbeing training programs. He holds a Graduate Diploma in Psychological Science from Deakin , Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts from Murdoch University, Diploma of Business from AIT, Certificated Workplace Health and Safety advisor, is a qualified Mental Health Australia First Aid trainer, ESL teacher, speaks three languages and currently studying towards General Psychologist registration.
