Douglas Shire Council will be undertaking improvement works at Little Cove and Rex Smeal Park in early March to enhance amenity, accessibility and long-term use of these popular community spaces.
When:

⏱ Duration: Approximately 3–4 days
What’s happening:
- Installation of a new irrigation system
- Feature lighting installed in the fig tree
- Underground conduits installed for future lighting
- Extension of the boardwalk to improve access to the wheelchair-accessible toilet
- Installation of a garden entrance at Little Cove
During construction, the affected area will be temporarily fenced off and operate as a construction site for public safety.
What will remain open:
✔ Playground
✔ Barbecues
✔ Public toilets
✔ Boardwalk access (outside the works area)
Council will install advance signage prior to works commencing.
