Overview
Summary
During Tropical Cyclone Jasper, several landslips occurred on Cape Tribulation Road as it traversed the Alexandra Range.
The contract to repair most of the sites was awarded to COLPO Civil Construction & Project Management (COLPO). There are two remaining landslip sites approved for repair and COLPO is expected to return in October 2025 to complete these repairs.
There is potentially an additional site which Council has been monitoring. While it did not initially meet the eligibility criteria, the site has deteriorated, and the project team is now scoping out the repairs to submit to Queensland Reconstruction Authority for consideration.
If approved, the work can be done through the recovery process avoiding an imposition for ratepayers and the community down the track in one or two years.
Cost of Project
Repairs are being funded by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority under the Reconstruction of Essential Public Assets Program.
