About the Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, Infrastructure and forming part of the Senior Leadership Team. The Manager, Infrastructure Planning & Delivery is responsible for the strategic planning, design and delivery of Council’s infrastructure and capital works program.
You will lead a multidisciplinary team across engineering, asset management and project delivery, ensuring outcomes align with organisational strategies, long-term financial planning and community needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading end‑to‑end planning and delivery of infrastructure projects
  • Developing and managing the Annual Capital Works Program
  • Providing high-level technical and strategic advice to executive leadership and elected members
  • Overseeing and developing asset management, asset management systems, contracts, governance and compliance
  • Driving innovation, continuous improvement and WHS compliance
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors and the community
  • Providing strong leadership to key teams within the organisation

About You

To be successful, you will bring a combination of strong leadership capability and technical expertise, including:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil, Structural or Water) or significant industry experience in a leadership role
  • Proven experience leading and managing teams
  • Strong knowledge of project management, contract management and asset management principles
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, priorities and performance
  • Excellent communication, consultation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Sound understanding of relevant legislation, Australian Standards and WHS obligations
  • Be based in Northern QLD or be willing to relocate
  • Hold a current Queensland “C” class driver’s licence and Construction White Card
  • Be willing to undertake a police history check and pre-employment medical.
  • Desirables include: project management qualifications, RPEQ/ RPEQ eligibility and prior experience within local government or the public sector.
