Douglas Shire Council advises that its contractor is continuing kerb and channel renewal works at three locations in Mossman and Port Douglas.

Current Progress
The project is progressing well, with compaction works now completed on Theresa Drive, Mossman.
The contractor has moved onto excavation works in Pringle Street, Mossman.
At this stage, works on Garrick Street, Port Douglas, are on hold pending the final asphalt installation. Asphalt works are currently anticipated to occur around 24 June 2026, subject to confirmation, weather conditions and contractor availability.
To minimise disruption to residents and businesses, asphalt surfacing for all three project locations is planned to be undertaken at the same time.
Theresa Drive Update
Council understands the importance of maintaining access for local businesses and apologises for any inconvenience caused by recent delays.
Unfortunately, wet weather and contractor equipment breakdowns have created some minor challenges and resulted in changes to the project schedule.
To improve access for businesses and customers, a steel access plate was installed on site this morning.
Council’s contractor is currently scheduled to construct three driveway crossovers on Friday 12 June 2026, which is the next available concrete delivery slot.
The affected driveway crossover will be included in these works and is expected to be reopened for normal use on Monday 15 June 2026.
Council appreciates the patience and cooperation of local businesses while these works are completed and will continue to do everything possible to minimise disruption.
Pringle Street Update
Excavation works are currently underway with concrete works currently anticipated for the following Monday 8 June 2026.
These works are expected to have minimal impact on surrounding properties, as existing driveway crossovers are generally being retained.
Garrick Street Update
Following completion of the current civil works, Garrick Street is awaiting final asphalt surfacing.
The asphalt installation is currently expected to occur around 24 June 2026, subject to weather and contractor scheduling.
Council has experienced favourable weather conditions throughout the project and is hopeful this will continue to allow works to be completed as quickly as possible.
