Douglas Shire Council is seeking a Senior ICT Officer – Business Improvement to identify, analyse and drive opportunities for continuous business improvement through the effective use of ICT-enabled solutions.

Position Objectives

Business Improvement:

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand underlying business challenges and translate them into sustainable, value-driven service-delivery improvements.
  • Lead and contribute to project initiatives that modernise systems, streamline processes, and enhance Council’s service-delivery capability.

Operational support – Applications:

  • A focus on applications and specifically Council’s Enterprise Suite – including performing data manipulation / correction, problem solving and report writing.
  • Perform systems maintenance / administration and upgrades.

Other:

  • Contribute to the design and future planning of ICT related processes and systems.
  • Participate and provide advice and input in corporate planning initiatives, projects and working groups.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum undergraduate business degree and / or significant experience in an Information Technology related discipline.
  • Current Queensland driver’s licence.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects from drafting business cases through stakeholder coordination, scoping, change management, schedules and benefit realization.
  • Demonstrated experience in solution design with an analytical approach to problem resolution.
  • Broad understanding of Financial Systems and practices.
  • Demonstrated high level proficiency / experience in writing technical and process documentation.
  • Experience in supporting and maintaining applications.
  • Demonstrated experience working with SQL data manipulation and related tools such as DB Visualiser and Crystal Report Writer.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft technologies, Active directory, Windows Desktop & Server OS, File & Print services, computer peripherals including printers, scanners, USB devices and scanners.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service orientation, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with staff across a broad range of technical skill levels.
  • Proven experience working effectively in a collaborative team environment, with a commitment to building positive working relationships and contributing to shared objectives.
  • Well‑developed time management and problem‑solving skills, with the capacity to prioritise and undertake a diverse range of tasks in a structured, professional, and analytical manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts, processes, or designs into concise, audience‑appropriate information, along with experience providing guidance, mentoring, and training support to business users.
