Douglas Shire Council is seeking a Business Support Officer to join the Environment and Planning Team.
Position Objectives
- Provide broad based administrative and operational support services to the Environment and Planning Unit, including Resource Management, Local Laws, Planning, Environmental Health and Sustainability.
- Assist with purchasing, reconciliation and processing of invoices, reporting, data management and maintenance of various spreadsheets and registers.
- Contribute to maximising the functions of Environment and Planning Unit.
- Establish best practice in administration and the provision of efficient and effective professional services.
- Operate collaboratively with the Environment and Planning Unit as well as the Corporate and Communities Department.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Suitable qualifications and/or demonstrated experience relevant to the position including administration experience.
- Current Queensland driver’s licence.
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated experience in a customer service environment.
- Experience in undertaking administrative activities, including recordkeeping.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to carry out delegated tasks to a high standard delivering timely and accurate outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to display integrity and discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
- Demonstrated ability to develop new procedures and/or review and amend existing procedures to improve efficiency and ensure accuracy of outcomes for role specific tasks and for other members of the team.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work under pressure, effectively managing multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative to resolve complex task providing timely and accurate responses.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with both internal and external customers.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and skills as an effective team player.
- Sound interpersonal, communication and written skills.
