GREEN thumbs will have a chance to cultivate their love for TV gardening personality Costa Georgiadis when he returns for the Douglas Garden Awards this year.
Douglas Shire Council has launched the second edition of the popular competition, calling on residents and businesses to “Let it Grow’” again.
Douglas Shire Mayor Julia Leu said the Douglas Garden Awards was a wonderful opportunity for aspiring and seasoned gardeners to showcase their talent.
“The Douglas Garden Awards are a perfect excuse to dust off the secateurs and make our beautiful shire even more enchanting,” she said.
“I am encouraging all those passionate green thumbs to tap into that backyard creativity and make our region flourish.”
“The inaugural awards were extremely well received by the community who were enthusiastic about showing off their innovative natural areas.”
Entries will officially open on June 3 to ensure gardeners have sufficient time to prepare their lush gardens, with judging to start at July 30.
ABC’s Gardening Australia host Costa Georgiadis will return for two days to judge local gardens and rub shoulders with Douglas Shire residents.
Council is seeking sponsorship of the awards.
