New mobile tower approved for Cape Tribulation
COUNCIL has approved a development application for a new mobile phone tower at PK’s Jungle Village in Cape Tribulation.
The approval allows for the co-location of Telstra infrastructure for mobile reception and landline relay to the Alexandra Range tower.
The proposed 50.5-metre-high, three-sided lattice tower will provide Optus 3G and 4G mobile coverage, Telstra 3G and 4G mobile coverage and Telstra landline telephone service for the area.
The tower and compound is proposed to be located at existing cleared lawn area at the eastern end of the PK’s Jungle Village property.
Mossman Gorge Community requests speed humps
COUNCIL has received a petition from the Bamanga Bubu Ngadimunku Aboriginal Corporation (BBNAC) Board to reinstate speed humps at the Mossman Gorge Community.
The speed humps were removed when a new surface was laid on Lund St.
Douglas Shire Council staff inspected the site where they agreed there was a need for speed reduction measures and suggested two raised platforms.
Council has received a petition with 52 signatures in support of the speed humps.
A report will be completed and tabled at a future Council Meeting.
Playground petition received
A PETITION objecting a proposed playground on Millman Drive in Craiglie was received and noted by Councillors today.
A report around the petition, which has 11 petitioners, will be completed and tabled at a future Council Meeting.
The proposed location was in response to a request from residents, initially received by Council in July 2017 and again in January 2018.
That request was supported by a petition signed by 37 residents.
