Douglas Shire’s extended NAIDOC Week program has been made possible through the dedication of local community groups, Elders, artists, and educators who have come together to share culture, knowledge, and connection. With National NAIDOC Week falling during the school holidays, this extended schedule ensures school groups can take part in the celebrations.

While each activity stands on its own, the 2025 theme—The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy—resonates throughout the program, reflecting the commitment to cultural continuity, youth engagement, and honouring the enduring contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
