We estimate water will be restored to Port Douglas in the next 24-48 hours (dependent on a reduction in water use within the network).
Council is currently working on solutions to provide drinking water to the community today, including providing more bottled water, and we’ll be providing further updates this afternoon.
Whyanbeel, Miallo, Bamboo, Rocky Point, Port Douglas Views and Wonga Beach are also facing water supply issues and we are continuing restoration works in those areas.
All of the shire’s water treatment plants are operational and reservoir levels are building up.
However, due to low treated water reservoir levels and flood-related damage to the system, drinking water has not yet been restored to all residents.
