Earth Hour is on Saturday 30 March at 8:30 – 9:30pm
What is Earth Hour?
Earth Hour is a global movement encouraging everyone to switch off all non-essential lights to show support for climate change action.
This year’s theme is ‘Why Nature Matters’.
Nature makes our life better by giving us good food, clean air, freshwater and so much more, but climate change and other causes of nature loss put this under threat.
What is Council doing to support Earth Hour?
Council will be switching off the security lighting at the Admin Building in Mossman and at the Port Douglas
Community Hub for Earth Hour (thanks Mark H). Plus putting out Facebook posts to encourage the community
to participate in Earth Hour. Our logo is also proudly displayed on the Earth Hour Community website here.
What Can I do?
At home on Saturday evening:
• Light some candles and have an Earth Hour Party at 8:30pm!
• Use #Connect2Earth and #EarthHour in social media posts to share the message far and wide.
