This executive leadership opportunity will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of corporate and community services while supporting the region’s ongoing disaster recovery and long-term resilience.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and forming an integral part of the Executive Leadership Team, the General Manager Corporate and Communities will provide strategic leadership across a large and diverse portfolio supporting both internal corporate functions and community facing services.

Leading a department of more than 95 employees across six functional groups, the role is responsible for driving organisational performance, strengthening governance frameworks, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to the community.

This position will also play a critical leadership role in disaster recovery and resilience planning, supporting Council and the community to respond effectively to future challenges while maintaining strong governance, financial sustainability and community outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership across corporate and community services.
  • Lead strategic planning including the Corporate and Operational Plans.
  • Drive disaster recovery planning, resilience and preparedness.
  • Strengthen governance, risk management and organisational performance.
  • Build strong relationships with Council, community and government.

Skills and Experience Required            

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, management or leadership, or significant equivalent executive experience.
  • Demonstrated executive leadership within a complex organisational environment.
  • Proven experience leading large and diverse teams across multiple functions.
  • Strong corporate governance capability supported by strategic planning experience.
  • High level financial, commercial and analytical skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively within a legislative and politically sensitive environment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement capability with the ability to work effectively with government, community and industry.
  • Experience within local government or a comparable public sector environment will be highly regarded.
