Douglas Shire Council has/will received $132,665 in funding to expand waste‑education initiatives through the Recycle Mate app and its supporting tools.
This Queensland Government-supported program will give residents easy access to accurate recycling and disposal information, helping reduce contamination and keep valuable resources out of landfill.
The new partnership confirms a multi‑year rollout from 2026 to 2029, delivering customised digital tools that will strengthen Council’s waste‑education campaigns and support positive behaviour change across households, schools and businesses.
Council is looking forward to providing smarter recycling support for our community and continuing to build a cleaner, more sustainable Douglas Shire.
