WASTE DISPOSAL UPDATE – 23/12/2023
Bin days are running as per usual over the Christmas period including all public holidays – Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Hours at our facilities are as listed on Council’s website here.
We will have an update as soon as possible on how far the run over the river can reach for the Monday collection and more information is pending on kerbside collection.
Kerbside Wheelie Bin service
All kerbside wheelie bin services have resumed as per the normal service schedule. This includes the recycling kerbside collection service which commences today (22 December) on the Friday Week 2 schedule.
Schedule times may vary so please have your bins out by 6.00am on day of service as usual. Please ensure lids are closed if possible, especially during rainfall events to prevent collection issues.

Disaster Waste Kerbside Collection
Residents of disaster affected households are able to deposit disaster waste (that is green waste, flood debris and flood damaged items from inside their house and immediately around their home) onto the kerbside for free collection by Council.
Please keep green waste separate to household items.
Food waste is to be placed into your waste wheelie bin and not on the kerbside.
Transfer Stations
Council has waived tipping fees for disaster waste until further notice. Please refer to Council website for conditions and further information.
Normal operating hours have resumed for all transfer stations.
Additionally, Daintree Transfer Station will be open today (22 December) from 8.00am to 3.00pm for disaster affected residents.
Please limit your waste to disaster/food waste until normal operations can resume as storage space is limited.”
