Prepared and Proud: Mossman CWA’s Resilient Spirit

By September 4, 2025No Comments

When asked if she had an emergency bag prepped, Mossman CWA member, Vicki Dawson didn’t hesitate, “Yes!

It sits by my door – I’ve been through a disaster before, and it taught me a lot.”

Not strangers to disaster, the Mossman CWA chapter helped their community in the flooding that followed TC Jasper even though they were impacted themselves. Their hall on Front street was inundated with a thick blanket of mud. Hung by the entrance is a photo montage of the CWA hall in varying stages of clean-up.

“We were fortunate, the Firies came and hosed us out, but even now when we mop it’s a mess. That mud is in the grout for good.”

The CWA continues to support members and local residents with opportunities to come together like they used to. “Our doors are always open, whether you’re a member or not. We’ve got markets, host Hoye, you can come and craft with us and sing -everyone loves Singing with Rose on a Thursday. Everyone is welcome,” said Vicki.

Mossman CWA Hall is located on Front St, with a prominent community notice board promoting their upcoming activities. Be sure to swing past to find out what’s on in Mossman and surrounds, and feel free to share notices from auxiliary groups you’re involved in.
